“I was raped by my then-boyfriend. He did not fit any sort of monster stereotype at all. He was very much the opposite - eloquent, from a stable background, well-spoken, honour student and he was capable of taking advantage of me in the worst imaginable way for two hours, it ended up being. So… The fact that I had these wrongful ideas about what a perpetrator was, meant that it took me a long time to piece together that what happened to me that indeed sexual assault.”
